Craft Brews @ Mutiara Damansara
by DeM0NiCk on December 23, 2009, under Parties

Last Friday, I went for a launch of a new place called Craft Brews in Mutiara Damasara. The place is owned and run by a client of mine, so I was there to support him…and also to check out the place (and free-flow beers of course). This place is has a “micro brewery” concept. Meaning, it looks like a mini brewery, but since brewing is not allowed (unless you’re a big international brewer), most of their beers are imported from US and possibly Singapore too.

these 3 glasses are mine…believe it or not.. :P
Some of their imported range of beers includes Rogue beers from the US, Hoegaarden, and also a whole range of award winning lagers and ales. Notice the green coloured drink above?….no that’s not apple juice! That’s called the “Monster Green Lager”, which is apparently a blend of beer and spirulina. I think this drink was the most interesting of all…and it was finished before the free-flow ended. I guess everyone was curious to try “green beer” for a change instead. In fact, the “green beer” was the “weakest” drink in the range of beers. I feel it’s more of a novelty drink. The best that I tasted that night was their English Ale, which is a dark beer, and quite strong. There were 5 drinks up during the free-flow period which started from 6PM to 8PM: Hoegaarden, Monster Green Lager, Weizen (wheat beer), The Czech Pilsner and of course the English Ale.
Being “kiasu” Malaysians, there was a long line at the place for the beers and food. Oh yes, they also serve barbequed pork ribs that is quite yummy as well. So as I was saying, there was a long line…

look at the long line for beers!
When free-flow ended, the crowd obviously dispersed and got less. Overall, I think the whole “micro brewery” concept is something different. The “green beer” is definitely something worth trying if you’re curious, although I wouldn’t recommend it if you like stronger beers. The place and ambiance is good too if you want to chill out. My only gripe is the price of their beers…it’s a bit over priced if you ask me (RM25 for a pint of Carlsberg on non happy hours is expensive!).

The Bestest Halloween Evarrr!
by DeM0NiCk on November 4, 2009, under Parties
Probably the best Halloween I’ve had so far. Whilst there were a lot of sponsored parties everywhere else around town, my friends and I opted for something with less hype and crowd, so we went to TwentyOne Kitchen + Bar along Changkat Bukit Bintang.
Our original plan was to go pub hopping along the street, but we had so much fun that we decided to stay on. No regrets really! We find ourselves partying with strangers from the next table and made new friends in the process. Gemaine and Samantha both were sort of in costumes. Gem was either Blair Waldorf or The Devil..either way, both personalities suited her…haha. Samantha came dressed as err…Lil’ Bo Peep…or so she claims.
We met up with people who were in costumes, and I got to say, some of the costumes were brilliant. The best costume was definitely Mr. Incredible and the most original was a “Suicide Bomber”….really..he had a fake bomb strapped to his body and was wearing a hooded jacket!

Gemaine, Samantha and I

Siew Yen and Eng Keat

An angel gave us the lollipops…serious!

Michelle and I

Oooh..this cute lady cop can arrest me anytime!

Suicide Bomber!!!

Some people we met from the next table

more people we met..
look it’s Mr. Incredible!….and errr..his sidekick?
After finishing a bottle of whiskey, we went over to Envee Club which is just a walk down the street, where there was still Vodka waiting to be finished! I get this feeling that strangers seemed more friendly and open during Halloween for some reason. Maybe because they can hide behind costumes. If only events like this happen every weekend instead of once a year, every weekend would be such a blast don’t you think? It was a really good night out, and I think all of us had a great time and went back smiling.

Hot Cars and Girls At Zouk KL
by DeM0NiCk on October 20, 2009, under Parties
Agnes, Mike and I were invited by a client of ours for the unveiling of Malaysia’s new drift team at Zouk KL on Sunday. The event had the 2 main elements to make a budget version of The Fast and the Furious movie..the cars, and the girls. The event was sponsored by FXOpen and the drift cars were built by Formula D.

my media pass..
We were there, sort of on duty as we were given media and VIP passes to take photos for their upcoming website revamp. With the media passes, we were entitled for free food and drinks at the VIP lounge.
Check out the cars..

And the girls..

Being the first drift team to represent Malaysia in the international drifting circuit, there was a short demo on what these cars can do. It’s amazing to see how the drivers control the car with such skill and precision. With the aide of our local traffic cops, they managed to turn a short stretch of Jalan Ampang into a “drift zone”. Believe me, it’s no easy task to drive one of these cars even at normal speeds, let alone doing corners, drifting and maneuvering around in such a confined area. They have zero margin for errors as the crowd we pretty close and there were no safety barriers as well.

All in all, Agnes managed to take quite a number of decent shots which will be used for their upcoming (and improved) website. Well done Agnes! So until then, stay tuned for another unveiling…unveiling of the new website that is.

Recapping A Great Week, “To Arthur!”
by DeM0NiCk on September 28, 2009, under Parties
I’M FINALLY BACK! I’ve neglected the blogging world for quite awhile for 2 reasons. First reason, I decided to go on a month’s hiatus from updating simply because I didn’t feel like it. Second reason? Well, as some of you might know, I recently sat for a Microsoft certification exam. The exam really stressed me out. I sacrificed the long Hari Raya weekend and spent most of the time at home studying for the exam. I guessed it paid off in the end. My exams was on Thursday, just after the long break. How did I do?…well, lets just say you can call me a “Microsoft Certified Professional” now *wink*.
Oh..another good thing was that I won 2 tickets to watch Black Eyed Peas in concert in conjunction with Arthur’s Day. How did I win?…err..I was given an entry form for every pint of Guinness I drank and all I had were 4 entries. What luck right? The party was great! Although I must say, Black Eyed Peas don’t really sound as nice live as they do on their records. I reckon it could be due to the sound system and the venue which was held in an open environment where sound are often displaced.
Here are scenes from Arthur’s Day
“To Arthur!”

booo to the sign!

met Puei Ee at the event too..
Janice and I enjoying our Guinness

watch the pro at work…hehe

Black Eyed Peas Yo!
Fergie was hot as always, although she sounded a bit off that night…again I blame the sound system and the venue. For me there were 2 highlights during the concert. One was definitely when wil.i.am remixed songs from the widest range of genres. From “House of Pain”, to “Red Hot Chilli Peppers” to “Michael Jackson”, he simply rocked the house. And then, came the finale where they sang “I Gotta Feeling” where the crowd absolutely went bananas! The night ended with a massive fireworks display. What a way to end the week won’t you say?
