2010: The Year of Rainbows and Sunshine

by DeM0NiCk on January 5, 2010, under Parties

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!! It’s a brand spanking new year and 2010 in my view will be (I hope) an awesome year! Yes, for several reasons, I’m really optimistic about this year. 2010 will be themed “Rebuilding” for me. Rebuilding – career, friendships and relationships. I have several new year’s resolution which I shall not mentioned because I feel the moment you tell someone or let anyone know what it is, you’re under pressure to fulfill it. I do not want that! As we speak, I have already received some awesome news which already fulfilled one of my new year’s resolution. I’ll tell everyone about it when things are more certain.

Now for some updates. First up, I want to wish my sis Zara “Happy Birthday!” Her birthday falls on New Year’s Eve every year, therefore most people are usually too busy to celebrate it with her. This year, being her big 3-0, her best friend Rozell, schemed a surprise for her on the eve of her birthday in Mezze in Medan Damansara…and boy was she surprised! You should see the expression on her face when she came in the restaurant hoping to have a quiet dinner with just her boyfriend Harng, who just came from Aussie, and her best friend, when we all jump out of our hiding spots to surprise her. It really was an unforgettable moment.

I also have here a video of the birthday girl giving her thank you speech and blowing out her birthday cake.

Up next, NYE. Now then, it’s almost an annual affair that I celebrate New Year’s Eve with a party. This year (well, last year to be more exact) we rented a hotel suite in Ritz-Carlton Residences, Kuala Lumpur. All I got to say is the place was FREAKIN’ HUGE! It has 3 bedrooms with walking wardrobe in the master bedroom, a dining, kitchen, living room and study/library. According to the website, its about 2,362 square feet.  The place can accommodate 30-40 people easily!

Ok, to cut the long story short, I have some pictures taken from that night.

Bang! Ahhh!

“0-0-7-Bang! Ahhhh!”

“Say Cheezzee!”

“Cheezzee!”

“Damn…have to drink again!”

If you’re wondering, NYE this time round was a very “civilized” affair. There were surprisingly no casualties but some of us including myself stayed over till the next morning. What a great party it has been, and what a way to usher in the new year. Looking forward ahead for more better things to come! :)

On Being 30

by DeM0NiCk on July 4, 2009, under Parties

Last Wednesday, I celebrated a milestone. I wanted something simple yet memorable and what a better way to celebrate a milestone by having a simple dinner with my friends and family. Honestly I didn’t want to celebrate it on a week night, but I had no choice as I couldn’t have done it on the following Friday or Saturday nights due to me having prior engagements with a friend who is getting married on Saturday. Doing it the week after kind of kills the mood.

My guest list was at least 30-40 people, but having it on a Wednesday night, I already expected a lot not to show up, so I was quite overwhelmed by the number of people who came.

27 people showed up..

Every year for my birthday, I like to bring all my different groups of friends together as I think it’s the only one time of the year, I can get to see so many of my friends at once. Also for the first time in 4 years, I’m not drunk on my birthday (really…that’s a milestone by itself!) and needed no assistance home.

It was an evening that I thought it would be. It was the perfect birthday! I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Thanks to everyone who came:

Ashlin, Kristin, April, Lei Kuan, Rachel, Zara, Evie, Janice, Siew Yen, Jek, Jolene, Hansen + GF (sorry can’t remember her name), Doug, Karen, Rica, Yung Shen, TJ, Mike, Yih Wen, Chui, Regina, Jacqueline, Jon, Victor, Olivia, Christy

…and making it a memorable evening….you guys rock!

The Birthday Bash

by DeM0NiCk on July 20, 2008, under Parties

I know, this is my second birthday bash this year but like I mentioned the first one wasn’t my idea as I had this one in mind. But anyway, last night was awesome. It was a combined birthday with my friend Suzanne so she brought her friends and I brought mine. Of course it became a melting pot where people get to know new people as well.

So…how can a birthday bash be complete without alcohol right? Well, Me and Suzanne initially got everyone 20 jugs of beer (which is about a barrel). Suzanne’s friends then got another 2 bottles of whiskey and a bottle of champagne (…I think or was it white wine?). Apart from that, friends kept buying us drinks. I had 4 flamings (2 shared and 2 solo), beers and a shot of tequila! Needless to say, at the end, both of us KOed. I was so drunk that I didn’t even know the girls dragged me into the ladies toilet for me to puke. Imagine the 2 host puking side by side!! Hahah…luckily there isn’t any pictures of that :p

These are some scenes from last night’s madness…

My forth flaming…

…and the outcome of that..

All in all, the party was a success. They all accomplished their mission of getting Suzanne and I drunk. Although I cannot remember the last few moments of the night, I hoped everyone had fun last night. Again, thanks to all who came…you really complete my night. I heard some people are already looking forward to next year’s birthday bash! LOL.

My Waikiki Birthday

by DeM0NiCk on July 2, 2008, under Parties

It was supposed to be a quiet birthday, nothing was planned. Then Jek brilliantly asked “So…no beers tonight ah?” I told him that I got nothing planed yet. He then organized a “session” since it was my birthday…and coincidently, there was a Carlsberg event happening that night as well. So I thought to myself “Hmmm…since I got nothing planned yet…so why not?” Immediately, Jek sent an email to everyone to organise a birthday/beer session that night. I then called my friends (if you’re reading this and was not invited, I’m really sorry…it was really last minute) to come join me and my colleagues. Well I must say, I am so blessed to have many friends who turned up just because it was my birthday. So to everyone who came, “THANK YOU! YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME!”

The night was a blast and I had like 3 Flaming Lamborghinis and countless mugs of beer! I’m amazed that I was still standing and able to drive myself all the way back home. However, once I got home, I just crashed. Probably the alcohol took sometime to kick in. So here are some photos taken during that night in no particular order…

This is my third Flaming ok!…dun pray pray!

What?…still standing what…it’s not my fault!

Gee…from wanting a quiet night to this?? Totally something random but I’m glad it did happen because I had an awesome time. The reason I didn’t want to do anything because I’m actually saving it for a bigger (and wilder?) combined one with my friend Suzanne sometime middle of the month…that one is going to be massive as the last time we had a combined birthday was during our 21st birthday…and boy that was really one to remember.
