My Last 5 Movie Escapades
by DeM0NiCk on June 16, 2009, under Tidbits
Of late, I’ve been going for movies quite often. It’s because some movies I really want to watch, while the others was just an excuse to go out to kill time and be entertained. Well, these are the last 5 movies I’ve watch in chronological order..

Angels & Demons Watched this movie with Chui Mae and Mike on a week night a few weeks back. I thought this movie is brilliant, and although I didn’t read the book, my friends who did also thought it was better than “The Da Vincci Code”. Well then again, I haven’t come across a movie based on a book which is considered great or perfect for that matter. Would I recommend it? |

Monsters Vs. Aliens It was a Saturday night, and I just wanted to get out of the house somehow. I called Zara and we decided to catch this animated movie just to have some laughs and not to look too sad on a Saturday night. Well for one thing, I’m not really a huge fan of watching animated movies on the big screen because I think it’s a waste of time and money (most animated movies are only 1.5 hrs long). But when you really got nothing to do..why not right? (beggars can’t be choosers). So anyway, Dreamworks did a pretty good job in the animation for this movie. Even though the storyline is kinda lame, but it was damn hilarious! But I don’t think a 5 year old can understand some of the jokes in the movie. Lots of dry no-brainer humor. Really good for laughs. Would I recommend it? |

Night At The Museum 2 Sylvia was back from her Europe trip, so I thought we met up for dinner and go catch a movie. It was a Sunday night, therefore there were a lot of movie goers that night too. We had no choice but to catch the midnight movie then. Since Sylvia had the day off the next day, we figured why not…boy how I regretted. Ben Stiller being himself in comedy roles, you can already imagine how it’s going to turn out. I don’t know…but somehow this movie is so bad, it kinda scarred me a little. Yes it’s THAT bad! To add insult to injury…it’s only about 1hr 40 mins! So NOT worth it! Would I recommend it? |

17 Again Chick flick alert! Last Friday night, I met up with Jacqueline and Samantha to watch Zac Efron. Yes…I went to watch a chick flick with 2 chicks…so you can imagine what happened during the scene where Zac came out from his Audi R8, with cool shades, leather jacket and tight jeans walking in slow-mo to the school… Girls: *Gasp!* I can’t breathe! He is so cuteee!!” While I know full well that it’s a chick flick, I got to admit…I’M A SUCKER FOR CHICK FLICKS TOO! (NOT Zac Efron btw! >.<). Would I recommend it? |

Hannah Montana The Movie Now now, before you gasp and go WTF?!! This really isn’t my idea. Michelle wanted to watch this movie and I had no other choice because I’ve watched everything else prior to our “date”. I proposed Terminator Salvation but she didn’t want to..so..Miley Cyrus it is then…GAH! Just so you know, it’s a Disney production, meaning lots of singing and dancing. Haven’t seen an episode of HM prior to this so I have really NO IDEA that Hannah is Miley and vice versa in the movie. I always thought it was Miley that plays Hannah in the movie..err..nvm. I even took extra precaution and Twittered that if there are no updates from me soon, please call the cops! Just in case I die or faint. But actually, it isn’t as bad as I thought it would be and I think some of the songs (not all) were pretty decent and catchy. But it’s also a chick flick nevertheless…but as Miley says you get the “Best Of Both Worlds”. hehe….remember..win-win! Would I recommend it? |

The Long Awaited Weekend..
by DeM0NiCk on August 19, 2007, under Parties
It has been a really shitty week for me. Late nights and working long hours. There was one night that I was in the office until 3am, because we have a presentation the next day, and the stupid application decided to show off its tantrum by NOT WORKING! - It’s always the case isn’t it? Big day the next day, and everything gets fucked up the day or night before! Sighsss…so you can imagine how relieved I was when the weekend came.

Friday night, I was also working kinda late (7pm + on a Friday night is consider late ok!), when Zara called to ask me for a movie. When I asked what movie and she said it’s some “Rat” movie!. I was like WTF isn’t that a cartoon/animation movie?…First of all, I’m not really keen when it comes to watching cartoons/animated movies on the big screen simply because : 1. IT’S A CARTOON! and 2. it usually only lasts slightly more than an hour. So ok, since I really needed the break, and Zara was nice enough to call me so I went to watch Ratatouille (pronounced rat.a.too.ee) and I got to say, it was one of the best if not THE BEST animated movie I have seen! No kidding. Talk about realism in animation. What’s more, the movie lasted about 2 hours long! So it made me think that if only all the animations were this good, I don’t mind watching. After the movie, we met some friends up at Wabisabi, a Japanese Yakitori bar, where we sort of had supper and dinner in one plus a few glasses of alcohol of course.
Saturday night…
Well, went to Bamboo again only this time, it was because it was Jean’s birthday! The night started slow, as we didn’t want (or she didn’t want rather) to be KOed so early. So we started out with a few jugs of beers. But alas, all hell broke loose when a bottle of Bacardi Apple was unleashed. After that, there were 3 Flamings in a row for the birthday girl followed by more jugs of beer!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEAN!!

The Transformers Movie
by DeM0NiCk on June 30, 2007, under Tidbits
This is no doubt the most highly anticipated movie this year. So much secrecy was put into making this movie what it is. I watched it on its very first day of its release here (yay!) and I can tell you, it was definately worth the wait. The Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg combination really lived up to its expectation. While the storyline was erm..”so-so”, the fight scenes, the CG and the transformation of the robots was something to make you go “Wow!”
Some pictures from the movie (courtesy of the official Transformers website)
Optimus Prime

Nasty Megatron trying to be King Kong
One of the coolest scenes. Looks like it’s “blading” before shredding the vehicle to shreds!
Optimus Prime was definately the best adaptation. His voice is also of the same person who did the cartoon! Only dissapointment? Megatron! He didn’t look like Megatron at all. He looked more like a cross between Alien and Predator! Plus he transforms to a jet!?? Ok, don’t want to spoil it for those who have yet to watch it, but it’s definately worth watching. If you grew up watching or playing with these robots (I did), you will know what I mean.
