Self Portrait Saturday
by DeM0NiCk on January 24, 2010, under Tidbits
I don’t usually wake up early on Saturday mornings, but yesterday was different as I had to do my portrait photo shoot. Yes, you heard right, it’s a photo shoot entirely on ME. A very special thanks to Siew Yen, who is such a gem to proposed the idea some time ago. She is not a professional photographer (not yet), but is keen in experimenting as well as learning using test subjects/guinea pig like me. I agreed to it as I thought it would be fun and being the vain pot that I am…why not right? Immediately we were thinking of where to do the shoot. We had a few venues in mind, but we chose Jarrod & Rawlins and Aliyaa in Damansara Heights as it had the setting that we were looking for…a bungalow turned bar/restaurant.
Below are just some of the samples that were taken. There are just too many to put up, so I just picked a few for you to have a look.

So what do you all think? Any comments? Yes, I know I do look a little “kayu” in front of the camera but I’m not a pro either…but I’m happy so it doesn’t really matter what you think then! :P
Hot Cars and Girls At Zouk KL
by DeM0NiCk on October 20, 2009, under Parties
Agnes, Mike and I were invited by a client of ours for the unveiling of Malaysia’s new drift team at Zouk KL on Sunday. The event had the 2 main elements to make a budget version of The Fast and the Furious movie..the cars, and the girls. The event was sponsored by FXOpen and the drift cars were built by Formula D.

my media pass..
We were there, sort of on duty as we were given media and VIP passes to take photos for their upcoming website revamp. With the media passes, we were entitled for free food and drinks at the VIP lounge.
Check out the cars..

And the girls..

Being the first drift team to represent Malaysia in the international drifting circuit, there was a short demo on what these cars can do. It’s amazing to see how the drivers control the car with such skill and precision. With the aide of our local traffic cops, they managed to turn a short stretch of Jalan Ampang into a “drift zone”. Believe me, it’s no easy task to drive one of these cars even at normal speeds, let alone doing corners, drifting and maneuvering around in such a confined area. They have zero margin for errors as the crowd we pretty close and there were no safety barriers as well.

All in all, Agnes managed to take quite a number of decent shots which will be used for their upcoming (and improved) website. Well done Agnes! So until then, stay tuned for another unveiling…unveiling of the new website that is.

Corporate Photo Shoot in Penang
by DeM0NiCk on July 26, 2008, under Travels
I just got back from Penang last night. My Senior Art Director and I, along with 2 photographers were there for a corporate photo shoot for a client which requires pictures to be featured on their company’s website and also corporate brochures. Well, I must say, the trip was a successful one and we did have fun throughout the whole 3 day ordeal. We did not have time to go binge eating though since we were on a really tight working schedule.
We touched down on Wednesday evening and proceeded with checking in to our suite. We then proceeded to recce our shoot location, followed by dinner. We had loads to eat (duh!..it’s Penang!) from the famous Oyster Omelette to Penang Rojak. Sorry I won’t be showing any food pics that we ate because I feel it wasn’t really the highlight of the trip. After dinner, we went back to our suite, and briefed the photographers on what is to be done for the next day.
Our hotel suite and jacuzzi
The next day starts with us waking up around 630AM as we had to meet the client downstairs for breakfast at 7AM. After breakfast, we went to the shoot site and started setting up before the talents came in. Now, we didn’t have professional talents to work with. We used talents and background of all their staff since it was for their corporate collaterals anyway. I must say, most their staff had some form of hidden talent. A few were quite photogenic and looked like they done photo shoots before as they do not seem shy in front of the camera.

Oh, checkout the view from this office. Don’t you wish your office view were like this?
The day ended with us going for happy hour drinking with the client and followed by a scrumptious seafood dinner which is like a freaking 40 minutes drive from where we were, but no doubt the seafood dinner was absolutely fulfilling. By the way, the place is called Teluk Kumbar in case you want to go…I highly recommend it.
Happy hour drinking with the client
After dinner I met up with a high school friend of mine who took me out for drinks and a short tour of the “happening” areas of Penang. It’s been good seeing her again and catching up. By the time we finished, it was already 230AM….and I have to wake up at 630AM! Gahh!!
The next day, the photo shoot was of more casual in orientation. All staff were told to come in casual clothing which includes sun dresses, shorts and bikinis (no I’m just kidding…but how I wished).

Us and the client
We wrapped up around 430PM as we had a 640PM flight to catch back to KL. I must say, the whole photo shoot was all smooth sailing and quite an experience. My only disapointment with the trip is that I couldn’t stay longer as the tickets were arranged and paid for by the client. Oh well, I guess now I have reasons to go back to Penang again ;)
NOTE: There are actually more pictures of us taken together with the “talents” which might not be too appropriate to be posted. I shall just leave it to your imagination for those shots then. ;)

In Need Of Talents
by DeM0NiCk on December 3, 2007, under Tidbits
DO YOU LIKE ICE CREAM?
DO YOU WANT TO BE FAMOUS?
If you answered “Yes” to both of the above, do let me know. I’m looking for talents both male and female, age between 20 till 60. Yes this means it also includes your uncles, aunties, brother, sister, mistresses, ex-girlfriends…or who ever you might think is interested or decent looking enough, from any ethnicity.
This is a photo shoot for a client, to get some stock images to be use on their upcoming desktop calendars, cards and also their website. The pay well….ICE CREAM! They are offering 10 pints worth of ice cream to who ever they select. Of course this comes in the form of vouchers where you can exchange for pints at anytime at any outlet. Not bad for only a 1/2 day or so photo shoot right?
There will be only 10 selected talents for the shoot. The date, time and location of the shoot will be finalized this Wednesday (5th December), but at the mean time, if you are interested to get some free ice cream (and get fat!), do let me know and start spreading the word!
*Note: the client sells premium ice cream and not ice cream potong. So ONLY if you’re really interested, will I let you know who they are.
