Disgruntlement: The Death of My N80

by DeM0NiCk on January 24, 2008, under Tidbits

Sighs! It is official, my N80 finally died. Well, at least it cannot function properly for normal usage. All I see on my screen now is a white background with no interface, therefore making it totally useless. I think this is a common problem with slider phones as it has something to do with wear and tear issues. The phone is about 1 and half years old and I’m a heavy phone user. My backup phone which is an O2 Xphone II, wasn’t much help either. You see, the reason I bought the N80 was because the O2 couldn’t really function properly. A few of the keys on the keypad are jammed making it hard if not impossible to access key menus like creating text messages. I can still make and receive calls normally though but I can’t reply nor create text messages.

It was when looking for another phone from others to use when I just realized that I can’t do that because all my contacts are stored on my phone’s memory and not my SIM card. I bet you will be asking….why can’t I use the phone to copy the contacts to the SIM right?…Well, there are 2 reasons. First, I can’t access the copy menu due to the jammed keys. Second, even if I could, my SIM card can’t store all of my numbers (I have about 400+ contacts). Right now, I managed to copy a backed up address book from my laptop into the O2’s phone memory, so I still get to browse through my contacts. Only thing, I CAN’T DO TEXT MESSAGES!!…can you see my frustration here??!!!!@%#&@!!!

Time to get a new phone? Maybe not…again, due to financial constraints and limitations, I think its better bet for me to revive the N80. If you know me well enough, you would know I would never settle for a downgraded phone or any gadget for that matter even if it’s cheap. I will only upgrade but never downgrade…so yes…stubborn me. Sigh!…I really hope it’s not going to cost a bomb to repair it. But for now, I shall stick with my O2. So if for some reason I don’t reply your text messages, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Stranded

by DeM0NiCk on November 8, 2007, under Parties

Last night after work, I met May Lynn and Evie up for dinner at The Curve, and later proceeded to Wabisabi in Plaza TTDI to have some drinks. Later, May Lynn left after having some "joy juice" apple vodka which both of us recommended her…hehehe. Evie and I thought it was rather early to be headed back home (it was only 12AM at that point) so we met Janice and some of her friends up at this place called Waikiki. All I can say is, it’s an uncle’s joint (why Janice why??!), where you have a live band performing. Evie even said.."Hey…don’t be surprise you see your dad here!" Yea…it was that bad..but heck…so long the company was good nothing else matters right?

So anyway, after the drinks, we went across the street to have some "Lok-lok" by the road side. Half way eating, it began to rain. It rained so heavily, we had to take shelter at the nearest shop lots. Well…there we are STRANDED! The rain didn’t seem that it will stop anytime soon.

Our "lok-lok" seller packing up :(

Raining elephants and cows!

The stranded bunch

After about 40 mins or so, Alex decided to make a run for it to get his car, since his car was the nearest (one has to sacrifice for all to go home right?). So thanks to him, we all got to go back home. Otherwise, I think we would probably be there until the rain stopped (I was home by 5am and it was still raining!).

My Sick Day

by DeM0NiCk on September 5, 2007, under Tidbits

Finally, my body gave up on me today. After a few weeks of late nights at the office and parties, my body decided to go on strike. Yea..I’M SICK! I woke up this morning feeling so darn shitty, as I felt feverish and achings all over my body. I called in sick to the office. I then went to see a doctor to get some meds. OMG! You won’t believe one kid at the clinic! I seriously doubt that the kid is sick man because she was so hyper screaming her lungs out and running all over the place! Gees…and their parents didn’t even stop her. Honestly, I think the parents are the ones who are sick not their kid because of having severe brain trauma, thanks to that kid of theirs. Either that, or they are really taking the kid to see the doctor to ask the doctor to give her meds to reduce her hyper-ness! Seriously! At that moment I just felt like telling the parents to ‘Please control your kid! This is a clinic you idiot!’. However, I was too darn weak to do so. Anyway, after they called that kid’s name, she went in, and it was back to how a clinic should be.

The doc gave me some muscle relaxant and vitamins. I took them, and later, I was like one a tranquilized elephant. I was asleep most of the time, but my office and clients kept calling me and I had no choice but to put my mobile phone on silent. Well, on a brighter side, I heard that today, the internet and email server was down at the office. Imagine going to work with no internet!?? So it was kinda like a blessing in disguise too in a way. Oh well, there will be a lot of shit for me to clear tomorrow at the office. I’m just hoping it’s not a lot. Pray for me!

Animosity

by DeM0NiCk on July 30, 2007, under Tidbits

Does it hurt?
To know I’ll never be there
Bet it sucks, to see my face everywhere
It was you who chose to end it like you did
I was the last to know
You knew exactly what you would do
And don’t say you simply lost your way
They may believe you, but I never will

Never again
Never again will I hear you
Never again will I miss you
Never again will I fall to you
Never
Never again will I kiss you
Never again will I want to
Never again will I love you
Never!

Malaysia Airlines, Shame On You!

by DeM0NiCk on July 16, 2007, under Tidbits

This is with regards to this article on The Star newspaper on Sunday. I wouldn’t thought this would happened to my sister who was suppose to be on a Sunday 10:20pm flight back to Melbourne, but guess what?? The flight wasn’t only delayed, they didn’t even issue a boarding pass to 60+ passengers who were suppose to be on that flight! Their reason??? Because they implemented a new visa checking system, and things got screwed up!! WTF??!! They can have the cheek to tell angry passengers that their tickets are not valid as their flights were already full, and they were part of a group that was taken out because the earlier flight had the same problem, and passengers from that eariler flight took their seats!

Needless to say, there were a “mini riot” that happened, until there were police around.

Upset passengers when they were told their names have be taken out from the flight

A “mini riot” in the making

I think MAS staff and especially the manager on duty that night were very unlucky because they manange to piss a few “big” people out of that 60+ passengers. One was a lawyer who literally shouted and cursed at the manager. He also threaten to sue MAS and take legal action on the manager who made the decision to not issue them a boarding pass, Another lady was journalist who swore to make complaints to all newspaper publications and even the media. I think you can imagine the commotion that time. The lawyer wanted MAS to compensate him because his son will miss classes on that day. Not only that, he demanded that MAS took care and arranged for transportation for his son from the airport to where ever college his son is in!

The good thing is, most of the 60+ people who were affected, came together to make a complaint. There was even one lecturer from Monash Uni, who needs to be in class the next day! Everyone came together and “joined forces” to demand a solution. But there is nothing the MAS staff can do about it. After nearly an hour on tongue-lashing, the manager couldn’t even answer anymore. His eyes were a little red an he just stood there dumb founded. Then came the compensation. They were told to go to another counter to get the compensation. The thing is, the compensation is RM400, plus a free hotel accomodation. But guess where the accomodation is?? THE MINES HOTEL! Who in the right mind would book a hotel all the way there for only a few hours?!!. Their excuse? Pan Pacific hotel is fully booked!

Mother-Fs were heard everywhere, and accordingly, they were suppose to compensate each passenger USD 400 NOT RM 400, as the earlier batch got that amount! So what did everyone do? Well, they all decided NOT to take their stupid excuse for a compensation, and take this to court! NO I’m serious! All those who were affected exchanged name cards and did not take the compensation. They will take legal action on MAS for their screw up. Serves them right as they were pretty unlucky to be pissing a lawyer and a journalist. So if you see this on the newspapers or on the news, don’t forget, you heard it from here first.

So in the end, my sister had to wait for the next flight which is on Monday 10:15am to be back in Melbourne. MAS SHAME ON YOU!
