Update: 16 February 2010

by DeM0NiCk on February 16, 2010, under Tidbits

Happy Chinese New Year and belated Valentine’s Day to everyone. As you can see, I have not been updating my blog (again) for quite awhile. I’ve been busy the past week with me starting my new job and settling in. Thus far, everything is good as I think the nightmare hasn’t really begun yet. Even the remaining days of this week would be rather slow as most people are still away and most likely to only return by next Monday. Well, good for me to get use to things in the office then I suppose. Most parts of last week was spent going for pre-CNY lunches and dinners with clients and media owners. Not that I’m complaining, just that I think I might have put on a few pounds even before CNY and my whole exercise regime just went out the window.

If you must know, I’m trying this exercise regime to have a healthier lifestyle. Cutting down on carbs and fatty foods, playing badminton weekly, swimming and hitting the gym once awhile all to be ready in July. What’s happening in July? Well, I’ll be climbing Mt. Kinabalu in Sabah with a group of friends. I’ve always wanted to climb it, but never really took the effort until this year. It’s part of my “to-do” list in 2010.

Meet Aurora
Aurora Zeya Inger Bespolka is my Goddaughter. Yes, you heard right…I’m a Godfather already (man I’m old). She is actually my niece and is the cutest thing ever. I was supposed to be in Norway for her baptism last year, but due to financial constraints and work commitments, I couldn’t make the trip. But I’m glad I got to see her this CNY. She’s been talking non-stop being ever so inquisitive in her British accent. She is such a diva I tell you…every time you take her picture, she will pose with a smile and will always want to see the picture after you took it, talk about quality control. She also got this princess handbag that she keeps her water bottle, towel, soft toy and her red packets…I’m worried she would want to upgrade to an LV bag soon.

just look at the diva!

Most parts of CNY was spent with family and relatives; eating and gambling. I guess essentially that’s what happens every CNY. During the next few days, there will be a lot of CNY dinners too but this time with friends. Good time to catch up with a lot of people who I have not seen in a long time. Gosh, I think I have to work harder in the gym once all this is over. Until then…

by DeM0NiCk on September 13, 2009, under Tidbits

Dear readers,

Sorry that I haven’t been updating the site for quite awhile. Mainly because I am busy with so many other stuff, but rest assured updates will come soon. I’ll probably be making a compilation of photos of events that took place during the last 2 weeks (probably just a summary..too long to cram everything into one post)…be patient k? Cheers!

My Last 5 Movie Escapades

by DeM0NiCk on June 16, 2009, under Tidbits

Of late, I’ve been going for movies quite often. It’s because some movies I really want to watch, while the others was just an excuse to go out to kill time and be entertained. Well, these are the last 5 movies I’ve watch in chronological order..

Angels And Demons   Angels & Demons
Watched this movie with Chui Mae and Mike on a week night a few weeks back. I thought this movie is brilliant, and although I didn’t read the book, my friends who did also thought it was better than “The Da Vincci Code”. Well then again, I haven’t come across a movie based on a book which is considered great or perfect for that matter.

Would I recommend it?
Hell yes! I would watch it again too!

Monsters Vs Aliens Monsters Vs. Aliens
It was a Saturday night, and I just wanted to get out of the house somehow. I called Zara and we decided to catch this animated movie just to have some laughs and not to look too sad on a Saturday night. Well for one thing, I’m not really a huge fan of watching animated movies on the big screen because I think it’s a waste of time and money (most animated movies are only 1.5 hrs long). But when you really got nothing to do..why not right? (beggars can’t be choosers).

So anyway, Dreamworks did a pretty good job in the animation for this movie. Even though the storyline is kinda lame, but it was damn hilarious! But I don’t think a 5 year old can understand some of the jokes in the movie. Lots of dry no-brainer humor. Really good for laughs.

Would I recommend it?
If you want to kill time or feeling depress, this is the movie to go watch.

Night At The Museum 2 Night At The Museum 2
Sylvia was back from her Europe trip, so I thought we met up for dinner and go catch a movie. It was a Sunday night, therefore there were a lot of movie goers that night too. We had no choice but to catch the midnight movie then. Since Sylvia had the day off the next day, we figured why not…boy how I regretted.

Ben Stiller being himself in comedy roles, you can already imagine how it’s going to turn out. I don’t know…but somehow this movie is so bad, it kinda scarred me a little. Yes it’s THAT bad! To add insult to injury…it’s only about 1hr 40 mins! So NOT worth it!

Would I recommend it?
If there is an asteroid that is going to hit earth to end all of mankind, and for some reason they force you to watch all of Ben Stiller’s movies, I would still give this a miss!

17 Again 17 Again
Chick flick alert! Last Friday night, I met up with Jacqueline and Samantha to watch
Zac Efron. Yes…I went to watch a chick flick with 2 chicks…so you can imagine what happened during the scene where Zac came out from his Audi R8, with cool shades, leather jacket and tight jeans walking in slow-mo to the school…

Girls: *Gasp!* I can’t breathe! He is so cuteee!!”
Me: “Shhh! And please stop drooling on my hands!”

While I know full well that it’s a chick flick, I got to admit…I’M A SUCKER FOR CHICK FLICKS TOO! (NOT Zac Efron btw! >.<).

Would I recommend it?
I always like watching chick flicks with the chicks…because the chicks would like it and would like me for taking them to watch it! So win-win situation :P

Hannah Montana The Movie Hannah Montana The Movie
Now now, before you gasp and go WTF?!! This really isn’t my idea. Michelle wanted to watch this movie and I had no other choice because I’ve watched everything else prior to our “date”. I proposed Terminator Salvation but she didn’t want to..so..
Miley Cyrus it is then…GAH!

Just so you know, it’s a Disney production, meaning lots of singing and dancing. Haven’t seen an episode of HM prior to this so I have really NO IDEA that Hannah is Miley and vice versa in the movie. I always thought it was Miley that plays Hannah in the movie..err..nvm. I even took extra precaution and Twittered that if there are no updates from me soon, please call the cops! Just in case I die or faint.

But actually, it isn’t as bad as I thought it would be and I think some of the songs (not all) were pretty decent and catchy. But it’s also a chick flick nevertheless…but as Miley says you get the “Best Of Both Worlds”. hehe….remember..win-win!

Would I recommend it?
Hmm…HM?…seriously?…Hmmmmm

Update: 25 May 2009

by DeM0NiCk on May 25, 2009, under Tidbits

I’ve been busy the past week and as a result, I have not been updating my blog. Well actually, it’s more like I’m lazy to update because whatever free time I have left, I didn’t want to spend it by blogging. So anyway, I’ll do a recap of the week’s highlights starting last Monday:

Monday
Spent a quiet dinner after work in a cafe while trying to finish my book. Relaxing and chilling night.

Tuesday
Watched the Angels & Demons movie. Although I didn’t read the book, but I thought it was really good. Even people who read the book says it’s good…so it’s all good! :P

Wednesday
Was drinking at 3 places after work. Started off with Happy Hours at Bernard’s bar below my office with Livvy, Rabin and Jacqueline. Then moved on for Digital Wednesday event at Souled Out. Digital Wednesday is a monthly gathering organized by the Digital Association of Malaysia, where people from the industry gather to mingle and exchange ideas. There was of course drinking involved too. Later, I met up with Samantha, Zia Zia and Paul at Sid’s pub where we drink and catch up.

Thursday
A brutal night thanks to Jacqueline. It all began when I met her up at her place to give her some movies. Then, went on to Sid’s (again) for drinks after having dinner. Each of us had 3 glasses of wine, 1 pint of beer (with a splash of whiskey as some drunkard poured it into our beer!) and to top it off with a pint of Cider. By the time I was home, I couldn’t walk straight!

Friday
Woke up with a slight headache because of the previous night. Wasn’t feeling well at work in the morning (signs of a hangover!). Jacq said she was also the same and she was puking! Luckily I wasn’t as bad as her. Was feeling better after lunch though. After work, met up with Janice, Zara, Jef and 3 more of Jef’s friends (couldn’t remember their names..I think one of them is named Shirley) at TTDI Plaza. Was drinking again, but this time…not as crazy..but somehow..there was still a total of 4 jugs of beer though. I also found out on this day that I was "promoted" from being a friend to BFF status ;)

Saturday
Ellen, Yulius, Kristin and Jacq came over my place for drinks. And then, Jacq (being Jacq) and I adjourned for a second round of drinks…at where else…Sid’s (are you starting to see a pattern here?).

Sunday
Met up with the "Reban Gang" Zara, May Lynn, Suzanne and Tina at Delicious for tea at Bangsar Village 2. I haven’t met Tina ever since she moved back here permanently after her 16 years in Australia. It was good to see her again. It’s never a boring outing especially when those around you are female…because OMG the amount of gossip! But it’s really entertaining nevertheless.

So there, my week in summary. Now you know why I haven’t been updating? I hope this week is not as bad, because there are a few planned events happening…

Upcoming stuff this week: To catch “Monsters vs Aliens”, a Tweetup happening in KL @ TwentyOne and a party for my college mates at my place because one of them is getting married. Phew…if you don’t hear from me, stay tuned for my next batch update…hehe!
